Privacy policy

EarnedStory holds a record of your working life. We treat that seriously.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and, if you provide it, your name.

Career information you choose to enter: roles, employers, dates, responsibilities, achievements, skills and goals.

Files you upload as evidence, such as certificates, payslips or written feedback.

Basic usage events that tell us which features are used. These carry no achievement text, employer names or personal details.

Why we hold it

To provide the service: storing your achievements and generating CVs, interview stories, promotion packs and career suggestions from them.

To take payment where you have chosen a paid plan.

To keep the service secure and to fix faults.

Who can see it

By default, only you. Your information is stored against your account and access rules stop other members from reading it.

If you create a sharing link for your Career Passport, anyone with that link can view the sections you selected until you turn it off or it expires.

We use service providers to host the platform, process payments and generate document drafts. They process information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Uploaded evidence

Files are stored privately and are only accessible to you. Do not upload documents containing other people's personal details.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your achievements, documents and uploaded files are removed. Payment records are retained where UK law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your information, and object to certain processing.

Export and deletion are available directly in your privacy settings. For anything else, use the form on our contact page.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Automated drafting

Suggested wording and career recommendations are produced from the information you have entered. They are drafts for you to approve, edit or reject. No decision with a legal or similarly significant effect is made about you automatically.

This is a plain-English summary written for the platform as built. Before launch, have it reviewed by a solicitor and add your registered company details.
